3 Tips for Surviving a Major Stag Weekend or Hen Weekend Mishap
Lost Passports
An average of 30,000 Brits per year lose their passport throughout the world and with 1.6 million brits visiting the Algarve per year you can guarantee a large number lose theirs here. What do you need to do if your passport is lost or stolen?
- report the loss or theft of your UK passport to the local police
- get a police report as soon as possible
- inform your nearest British Consulate
The British Consulate is based in Portimao and you can reach on - if calling from Portugal: 808 20 35 37, if calling from outside Portugal: +351 21 395 4082
- FCO will ask you to fill out forms and assist you in gaining a replacement, emergency or temporary passport.
The cost of a replacement passport is £124, emergency £69 and temporary £89
- Report the loss to your travel issurance so you can claim the cost of a replacement passport back, but remember you must provide a police report.
It's a great idea to take a photocopy of your passport and keep it in a seperate place from your passport.

Getting Arrested
Pink Monkey hopes you will never have to get banged up abroad however if you do, the first thing you must do is to contact the consulate - if calling from Portugal: 808 20 35 37, if calling from outside Portugal: +351 21 395 4082. The consulate can provide you with information about your situation however they cannot:
- get you out of jail
- get you sent back to the UK
- supply legal advice
- cover any costs incurred
You must co-operate with the police and the consulate, so just stay calm and wait for the legal system to run its course.
Within Portugal you will deal with different types of police, below is a brief description of them.
POLICIA
The judicail police are dedicated to fighting criminality, organised crime, terrorism, drugs, corruption and financial crimes.
GNR
The national republican guard are responsible for law enforcement in the countryside and small towns, highway patrol and fiscal guard. Within the Algarve you will mainly deal with the GNR.
Medical Emergency
Accidents happen and they tend to be more frequent after a large amount of alcohol so make sure you get a quality holiday insurance with adequate medical insurance and make sure you take your documents with you. Before you visit Portugal you should also apply for a EHIC card which entitles you to healthcare at a reduced cost or free within Portugal, without this you are likely to pay for all your healthcare upfront before you can claim this back from your insurance.

Dyane Goodchild will lead her hen party group in running the 10K Bupa Great Edinburgh Run on the 2nd of October. Joined by 20 runners in "Dy's Hen Run" gear, Pink Monkey hopes they have a fantasic day.

Hen and Stag Parties Targeted by thiefs.
Banks and card issuers are warning Stag and Hen parties to be vigilant when abroad. Four in ten cards reported as stolen in the past year belonged to tourists visiting popular Spanish holiday destinations including Tenerife, Majorca and Minorca according to the latest data collected by card insurer CPP.
Kerry D’Souza, spokeswoman for CPP, says: ‘Large groups, such as hen and stag parties, are particularly attractive to opportunist thieves. Members of such parties are likely to have had a few drinks and be distracted having fun, rather than looking after their belongings.
‘The last thing you want during a special break is for it to become memorable for all the wrong reasons – such as a theft,’ she adds. ‘It is worth trying to remain vigilant and taking care with valuables and any card transactions you make.’ Source This Is Money - Read More here

Technology Aids US Wedding
Technology came to the rescue of a bridesmaid unable to attend her friends wedding. The Bridesmaid Renee was physically unable to make it to Jonathan Alberico and Jamie Wilborn’s wedding managed to attend using modern technology.
She appeared virtually throughout the ceremony on an Ipad and was even carried up the aisle by her escort. Renne announced that it felt as if she was really there “I got all teary-eyed during the ceremony, and couldn’t have got that from pictures.” - Source Digital Life

Kim Kardashian Holds Hen Weekend
Reality star Kim Kardashian held her massive hen party weekend in Las Vagas, Kardashian was joined by her mom Kris Jenner, sisters Khloe and Kourtney, TV personality LaLa Vasquez and socialite Brittny Gastineau.
Kim is due to marry New Jersey Nets basketball player Kris Humphries. The couple announced their engagement on May 11 after a whirlwind six-month romance. The quiet evening was a far cry from the wild hen weekend Kim’s sisters had promised last week. Kourtney and Khloe said they wanted to use hilarious stag night movie The Hangover as their inspiration. - Daily Voice

Stag Weekend Mishaps
The most common mishap for Stag Weekends abroad is losing member for the stag group, a calamity made famous by The Hangover and The Hangover pt II. According to the insurance group Direct Line, 12% of stag parties have either lost and mislaid a stag member during a stag weekend abroad.
Tom Bishop, head of travel insurance at Direct Line, said: "Every year, stag and hen parties get into trouble abroad. "While many are left with just a headache after too much alcohol, others wake up to a far more unpleasant reminder of wild celebrations finding tattoos, piercings, or injuries that they often can't recall getting."

How Not To Spend Your Hen Party
Bride to be Siobhan Watson, 24, woke up the day after her hen party with a raging hangover. She woke up fully clothed alone in aa budget hotel room with no mobile, this was lost the night before, Siobhan spent over one hour being sick into the budget hotel toilet!
So what I hear you say, we have all had mornings and hangovers like that. Well this day was not only the night after her hen party but also her wedding day. Siobhan had somehow managed to book a hotel room, lose her friends, lose her mobile phone, she said "I barely drink, only at Christmas or on my birthday, even then it's just a couple of glasses of wine. But friends organised an impromptu one the night before my wedding. My chief bridesmaid said: 'Don't worry, we won't lead you astray.' So we went out at seven to a bar serving fruity cocktails. I had four before the ings started getting hazy,"
After that Siobhan doesn't remember the rest of the night! After battling her hangover throughout the day Siobhan arrived to her parents house at 6pm, her wedding was supposed to have been at 12.30pm, she had been awol for over 6 hours. Unsurprisingly the groom, her parents and the rest of the guest were not amused. Needless to say the wedding was not rearranged!

Zara Phillips Hen Weekend
Zara Phillips enjoyed a fun filled hen weekend in Portugal recently. Throwing royal protocol to the wind Zara wore a net tutu and bright pink wig as well as a plastic cow around her neck.
The group of girls including Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallagher enjoyed cocktails, wine and sangria while playing drinking games, the next days the ladies relaxed at the spa. Pink Monkey thinks Zara has fantastic taste in locations!

Thieving Maid of Honour
Maid of honour pockets £3000 of brides hen weekend party fund. Nadine Kelly and 30 friends had saved up for a hen weekend in Benidorm, maid of honour Charlene Whittaker offered to take care of the money but 3 days before the group were due to leave Whittaker claimed the flights had been cancelled but the flights had never been booked and Whittaker a childhood friend of Kelly had run off with the money.

Mike Tindall Stag Weekend
Zara Phillips fiance Rugby Union star Mike Tindall partied hard with his mates in Maimi for his stag weekend. On Firday the boys enjoyed an 8 hours drinking binge at the hotel pool and into the night enjoyed a steak meal with more drinking.
Probably feeling worse for wear Tindall was back on the booze on Saturday parting at the Fansevoor South pool party then into the evening dancing at LIV, the guys were seen dancing on tables and couches and racked up a staggering $20,000 bar tab! Monkey says well done lads!

Kate Moss Hen Weekend
Kate Moss enjoyed hen weekend of booze and music at the Isle of Wight festival. Kate and her hens enjoyed a private VIP area with drinks supplied by London nightclub Mahiki and had to get even more helicoptered in.
Kate enjoyed her Friday night so much that she was unable to continue the festivies the next day leaving Iggy Pop to party without her.

Kates Moss's future husband fiance Jamie Hince partied at his punk themed stag do in Londons trendy Shoreditch. Jamie Hince from the Kills partied with fellow bandband but events wer so wild that complaints were made threatening to call time on the stag night!

Snoop Dogg is in demand, he recently revealed he turned down Prince Williams request for him to perform at his stag party due to an other engagement. However the rapper has also confirmed that he will be performing at Kate Moss and Jamie Hince’s wedding this summer.

Seth Rogan's girlfriend Lauren Miller has stated he will not go wild on his stag party. At the premiere to Kung Fu Panda 2 he said "My dream bachelor party? Man, it would not be legal!" Laughing, he explained: "I would get divorced after my wife found out about it so I'm not going to do my dream bachelor party!.

Most Unusual Hen Party Location
The UK played host to the most unusual Hen Party venue, the hen party took place in the UK largest pothole called Gaping Gill. Dressed in feather boas, hard hats and anoraks the hen and 25 guests were winched down the 334ft drop in to the pophole and enjoyed wine and a buffet.

FCO Issues a Warning to Stag Parties and Hen Parties over travel insurance
New research from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has stated that wll over one million britons will travel abroad for stag and hen parties this year but only 169,000 will purchase travel insurance.
Travelers risk being out of pocket if they lose their possessions, have an accident or get arrested. Incidents cited by stag and hen parties include being run over, losing passport, vomiting blood, falling off a hotel balacy and ending up in intensive care. Pink Monkey says "buy travel insurance and know your limits!"

Lilly Set To Party at the Ritz London
It looks like the 25 year old singer who is due to marry fiance Sam Cooper in Gloucestershire, South West England, on June 11 will throw a lavish bash at The Ritz hotel in London for her hen party.
It has been reported Lilly want to "bring some glamour to her hen night. She's been joking that she's old so wanst a good pot of tea, scones and knitting, but knowing Lily it will no doubt turn into chaos."
Lets hope the chief bridesmide TV presenter Miquita Oliver adds a bit of life to the party, I am sure they will hit it hard.
